On August 7, Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention issued a reminder that there have been many cases of imported dengue fever in Guangzhou this year. At present, Guangdong has entered the epidemic season of dengue fever. Because dengue fever is mainly transmitted through the bite of Aedes mosquitoes, residents should pay special attention to mosquito prevention after returning to Guangdong from infected dengue fever areas abroad or outside the province, otherwise it may spread in their communities.
The first symptom of dengue fever patients is sudden high fever, which may be accompanied by chills. The body temperature can reach 40℃ within 24 hours, and usually it can be reduced to normal after 3-7 days. "Pain" is also one of the main symptoms of infected people. Patients will feel headache, orbital pain, muscle and joint pain all over the body, and general fatigue; Flushing on the face, neck and chest may also occur, and even conjunctival congestion, superficial lymphadenopathy, gums and other unprovoked bleeding may occur. In addition, there may be congestive rash on the trunk or head and face of limbs, or ecchymosis and gingival bleeding at the injection site, and gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea may also occur.
There is no specific antiviral drug for dengue fever treatment. Guangdong CDC suggests that most people will have mild or even no symptoms after being infected with dengue fever, so don’t worry too much. Early detection, early diagnosis and effective symptomatic treatment measures will make most patients recover.
The elderly, infants and pregnant women, people with basic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease, peptic ulcer, asthma, chronic kidney disease and chronic liver disease, and people with immunodeficiency disease should pay attention to seeing a doctor as soon as possible to avoid developing into severe cases of dengue fever.
Guangdong CDC reminds that if you or your family members have symptoms related to dengue fever, such as fever, rash, muscle and joint pain, you must go to a regular hospital as soon as possible, and inform the doctor of the specific symptoms and the infection of dengue fever around your home. If you have a recent work or travel history abroad and outside the province, you should also take the initiative to inform your doctor and cooperate with dengue-related testing.
In addition, when dengue cases occur, community workers will publicize residents in areas with high transmission risk and check mosquito breeding sites, and should actively cooperate with the community to do all the work.
